GREEN LOGISTICS

This month we focus on the Green Logistics sector. How is Italy doing in this business field? How Green is Italy already and what are opportunities for Dutch technologies that can support Italian companies towards a more sustainable logistics system? These and other answers to above questions in this newsletter.

Firstly, we present you the 4 macro areas that will shape the logistics of the future

INDUSTRIAL LOGISTICS

The warehouse is a strategic node in the logistics System, this is why efficiency – rapidity and productivity are crucial in this precise “moment”/phase. Intralogistics are evolving in the wake of the digital revolution, industry 4.0 and the green objectives and also the warehouse model is changing: all operations taking place inside warehouses and their structure, which incorporates solutions dictated by green building, energy saving and the need to rationalise space with vertical and carousel warehouses. Handling, storing, cataloguing, weighing, packaging and picking operations are ever more automated.

“Smart” systems and remote controls modify performance and the work itself and the traditional warehouse management system is at a crossroads between obsolescence or evolution. Meanwhile World Capital notes that in 2019 investments in Italy for logistics properties reached 1.4 billion euros, driven by the last mile. According to a survey revealed on 22 January 2020 by World Capital, the volume of investments in Italy reached 1.4 billion euros, with an increase of 53.8% compared to 2017. This is why it is extremely important to circulate and introduce all the best green technologies in such an important period for the Industrial Logistics area.
